YouTube reveals its Top 10 Most Watched Game Trailers of 2017

#1 is not who you might think.

With the final month of 2017 upon us, everyone and anyone is compiling their "Best or Most of 2017" lists. YouTube revealed their top viewed game trailers of 2017, and the list is equal parts usual suspects mixed in with a few head-scratchers. As you can probably imagine, Call of Duty: WWII made the list courtesy of its Reveal Trailer (embedded above), as did Star Wars: Battlefront 2's Official Gameplay Trailer, and Destiny 2's "Rally The Troops" Worldwide Reveal ad.

A few of the oddities include the Google Play trailer for Despicable Me: Minion Rush and Clash of Clans' surprisingly awesome Hog Rider 360 commercial. And who says people don't like games with microtransactions?

Here's the full rundown of the Top 10 (via VentureBeat)

  1. Clash of Clans: Hog Rider 360° [58.0 million views]

  2. Official Call of Duty: WWII Reveal Trailer [21.8 million views]

  3. Despicable Me: Minion Rush – Google Play Trailer [18.4 million views]

  4. Star Wars: Battlefront 2: Official Gameplay Trailer [14.2 million views]

  5. Destiny 2 – “Rally the Troops” Worldwide Reveal Trailer [12.9 million views]

  6. Minecraft: Better Together Update is now live! Togetherness ACTIVATED! [11.8 million views]

  7. Halo Wars 2: War of Wits: The Sale [11.3 million views]

  8. GTA Online: Smuggler’s Run Trailer [10.8 million views]

  9. The Avengers Project - Announcement Trailer [8.7 million views]

  10. PES 2017 - Mobile Launch Trailer [8.6 million views]

While the final verdict on some of these games is iffy at best, that doesn't seem to matter much for the audiences checking out these trailers. To be fair, the quality of the ads are pretty solid (notably Clash of Clans and Halo Wars 2), which for this list, is what matters the most anyway.
